Sun Moon Lake is in the foothills of Taiwan’s Central Mountain Range. It’s surrounded by forested peaks and has foot trails. East of the lake, the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village is a theme park with a section devoted to re-created indigenous villages. Displays here include centuries-old carved lintel pieces, handicrafts and weapons. The Sun Moon Lake Ropeway cable car offers views of the mountains and water.
Once known as Dehua Village, this is the main Thao settlement. Traditional Thao performances and cultural exhibitions are offered here, as well as a shopping area full of Thao atmosphere.
The Sun Moon Lake Wen Wu Temple is a Wen Wu temple located on the perimeter of Sun Moon Lake in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, Taiwan.
Alishan National Scenic Area is in central Taiwan. It's dominated by the Alishan Mountains, which feature cloud-ringed peaks and green valleys. The area is home to Tsou aboriginal villages, known for tea production. A narrow-gauge train, part of the Alishan Forest Railway, runs through high-altitude forests. The Giant Tree Plank Trail boardwalk winds past huge cypress trees, including the fallen Alishan Sacred Tree.
